Each semester our Senior Project Officers lead a small team of 4-5 graduate students in weekly meetings to help understand community partner issues and understand how their team can best help. Through problem solving skills Senior Project Officers utilize program evaluation, grant allocation and strategic methods to solve community issues.
Alexa Ballard
Sundance Bay
Alexa Ballard and second-year MPA student. She is pursuing the State/Federal track and Social Impact Emphasis. She participated in Grantwell in her first year and loved the real-world experience that she gained alongside her coursework. Upon graduating, she hopes to work in international development, especially in programs working to alleviate poverty and provide education opportunities in Latin America. She also hopes to make a difference in her local or state community. When she is not doing homework, she loves to sing, hike, and think of new business ideas.
Hallie Gerlach
Be A Philanthropist
Hallie grew up in Montrose, Colorado and graduated from BYU with a BS in Sociology and a double minor in Women’s Studies and International Development. She is currently pursuing an MPA (Master of Public Administration) at BYU with emphases in Nonprofits and a minor in Information Systems, expected to graduate in 2024. During the first year of her program, Hallie participated in Grantwell as a student consultant, working on projects for Be a Philanthropist and Care for Life. Now, she is excited and grateful to serve as a Senior Project Officer at Grantwell, an opportunity that allows her to continue fostering and funding impact innovation both locally and internationally while honing her management and leadership skills. Hallie is passionate about public health and aspires to pursue a career dedicated to eradicating health inequity across all genders, races, and socioeconomic groups
Lindsey Walker
Lindsey is a second-year MPA student with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Development. She is passionate about using research and data to inform more humble and more effective solutions in the world of nonprofit and humanitarian work. She is currently interning for Habitat for Humanity International’s Outcome Measurement team and has worked in the past on evaluation and research projects centered in Spain, Morocco, Malawi, Latin America and of course in her home state of Utah. She has a deep love for travel, volleyball, golf, and mountain lakes.
Kaylee Hepburn
Kaylee completed her Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and International Development. She is currently a second-year MPA student at Brigham Young University, with a Nonprofit emphasis. With a passion for social justice advocacy, Kaylee is excited and grateful to join the Black 14 in its work to bring opportunities and equality to underserved populations across the United States. Kaylee recently concluded an internship at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation where she assessed and monitored financial lending opportunities for community development and in the past, has worked with Grantwell on the Be A Philanthropist team. In her free time, she enjoys all things outdoors, painting, and performing with local theater companies.
