EXPERIENCE DIRECTOR

Supervisor:

The experience director reports to the Executive Director  and the Grantwell Advisory Board.

Purpose:

The experience director is the volunteer coordinator and manager. They train the Student Project Officers (SPOs), manage volunteer expectations, create the teams, and help manage difficulties and struggles on the teams.

Position Overview 

The Experience Director leads and enhances the volunteer and student experience within Grantwell. This role is responsible for building high-performing consulting teams, training and mentoring Student Project Officers (SPOs) and volunteers, and fostering a supportive, engaged, and mission-driven culture.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Train Student Project Officers (SPOs) on leadership expectations, project oversight, and team management. 

  • Conduct regular check-ins with SPOs to monitor progress and address challenges. 

  • Support class needs with faculty advisor, including reviewing midpoint and near-final deliverables and providing feedback. 

  • Train the incoming Experience Director to ensure program continuity. 

  • Form student teams based on volunteer preferences, skill sets, and nonprofit project needs. 

  • Monitor team dynamics and assist with conflict resolution when necessary. 

  • Track team progress throughout the semester to ensure strong client outcomes. 

  • Design and manage volunteer surveys, including preference, midpoint, and end-of-year evaluations. 

  • Analyze feedback and engagement data to inform retention planning and future participation forecasting. 

  • Provide insights to the Executive Team to strengthen the volunteer experience. 

  • Plan and coordinate Grantwell events, field trips, and community-building activities. 

  • Collaborate with leadership to align volunteer engagement strategies with organizational goals. 

The Experience Director plays a critical role in shaping a high-impact, development-focused volunteer experience that advances Grantwell’s mission and strengthens student leadership. 

Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week during the Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter semesters. Required to attend all Grantwell and MPA 659R meetings and classes.
